Throwback (VHS & Film Camera) is made by Ecom Swift LLC. You don't need an account to use it. Your photos and videos are shot and edited on your phone and never leave it. We don't run a server that receives your pictures or clips, and we don't sell personal information.
Throwback asks for camera permission for its live retro camera, which shows the chosen look in the preview before you shoot. The camera is used only while the camera screen is open, and stops when you leave it or the app goes to the background. Camera images are processed on your phone and are not sent anywhere.
The microphone is used only while you record a video in the camera, so the clip has sound. Throwback asks for it the first time you record a video. It is optional: if you decline, you can still take photos and edit. The sound is stored only inside the video file on your phone. The app never listens in the background.
Throwback asks for no contacts, location or phone permission. On Android 9 and older it asks for permission to save to your Pictures and Movies folders, only when you save. It uses the internet only for ads and Google Play purchases.
Throwback is free to use and shows ads from Google AdMob, unless you have Premium or bought Remove ads. Before ads load, a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform appears where the law requires one (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). AdMob can use your device's advertising ID and general device information, such as model, language and app version, to show ads and measure them. Banners appear on browsing and result screens, never over the camera view or while you edit. A full-screen ad may appear after a save or export, limited in number and spacing. A rewarded video plays only when you choose to watch one, for example to try a Premium look or tool for 24 hours or to save one photo at full resolution.
You can change your consent at any time in Settings, under Ad privacy choices (shown where the law requires it). You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings. Google's privacy policy applies to the ads it serves: policies.google.com/privacy.
Premium (monthly, yearly or lifetime) and Remove ads are sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment, and we never see your card or payment details. The app only learns which products your Google account owns, so it can unlock them, also offline.
After you have saved a few photos or videos, the app may ask whether you are enjoying it. If you choose to rate, Google Play's own review sheet opens and the review is handled by Google Play.
The ad service and Google Play services may collect approximate location (from your IP address), app interactions, crash logs, diagnostics and device identifiers, as described in Google's policies. We do not receive this data about you as an individual. Throwback has no analytics of its own and does not sell or rent any data.
Throwback is made for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
